Tiffany’s Journey

Tiffany (00:00):
So my name is Tiffany. I am 48. I’ll be 49 next month and I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer March 5th of 2024. So initially my decision was based on where I went for my first surgery that I did not want. I said, “I don’t want you to take any fat from anywhere else on my body. Just give me some implants. I want one surgery and be done.” Well, again, through this whole journey, I’m a very alpha person. I have an alpha personality. I’m a control freak. I plan my life six months ahead of time and one thing God let me know was, “You’re not in control, girl. I am.” So I went in for that first initial surgery for the double mastectomy and to place implants and everything that could have gone wrong did. I had some complications right after that surgery and I kept looking at it and I kept sending pictures to the PA and I was like, “Something doesn’t look right.” Well, you could have some bruising and swelling.

(01:08):
And I said, “No, I’m telling you this is red. This is erythema. It is hot to the touch and it’s dark in the middle.” So by the time I went back 11 days later for my first post-op appointment, when they took the bandage off, his face turned white and he said, “Oh my gosh, this is necrotic.” I said, “I tried to tell you. I tried to tell y’all. I sent pictures and sent pictures and I tried to tell you. ” So I healed from that and then slowly every two weeks I went and had a little bit of saline put in the expanders until my skin was as big as it could go. And then something happened with that physician that just very, it just completely hit me the wrong way. So at that point, one of the physicians that I work with was diagnosed not long before I was and we went to lunch and she said, “Please, please go have a consult with Dr. Sullivan.

(02:16):
I promise you you won’t be sorry,” because he did hers and she looks phenomenal. I had my initial consultation with Dr. Sullivan and he was amazing. He’s so very kind and so soft spoken and is just there to want you to feel your best and feel like that you are whole again. He was very excited and he said, “I can give you the results that you want and make you happy.” So I had my first surgery at the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery on October 16th of 2024. I had the flap surgery, which I’m so thankful now that I did that because I have nothing foreign in my body. It’s all my own tissue. A flap is not a flap, is not a flap. The person that’s performing this procedure means everything. Dr. Sullivan and all of the other physicians here are phenomenal. The way that they do their surgeries, the techniques that they use are unlike anywhere else.

(03:22):
And what you look like when they’re finished is completely, completely different than other women that I’ve seen that did not have the opportunity to come here and have their surgeries. Other women that I’ve seen, they look like patchwork rather than they just had a mommy makeover. I feel whole. I feel like myself. I will never one day regret coming here to the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery.
