I was competitive amateur showing horses and managing a horse farm. I was pretty active and busy on horses every day. I was afraid of the downtime and I was like, “Man, I just want to be a minimalist and I didn’t want to be away from the horses and my competition that long. Having to get mammograms every six months, ultrasounds isn’t coming back this time.” And I finally just said enough is enough and made the decision to do the double mastectomy with the apex flap reconstructive surgery. I just immediately felt drawn to the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery. I decided to come and visit and interview Dr. Zafar and instantly fell in love with her team and fell in love with her and decided that it was the right fit and the fact that they weren’t going to touch my abdominal muscles and I was going to be able to be back on the horses in no time and just made me feel really comfortable.
