Mary’s Journey

Mary (00:00):
I went in for my mammogram late like most people do, and I got my mammogram and they said something, something doesn’t look right.
So I did the biopsy and once they got the biopsy back and the results, they said, you have cancer. Worst day in the World. Worst day.
Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yes, yes. That’s a whole convoluted story of how I got to Dr. Wright through botched surgery with another doctor.
So I had a double mastectomy and an immediate reconstruct in the same day, superwoman I am, I ended up getting an infection and I was in the hospital for 28 days. I had 30 days of antibiotics, eight hours a day, along with wound care from the infection under both armpits. I don’t know in other, any other states. In the state of Texas, you cannot go to the same doctor within the same practice. So I had to wait a year before I can get released to go see another doctor. I would call every day and say, Hey, I want to get released. I need to go to this doctor. They would say, no. I would call every day. Every day. I think after a month they got tired of hearing my voice.
It’s such a, I could just say such a miracle to find Dr. Wright and have her be a little bit more detail oriented than the last doctor was. And they’d be able to tell me what needed to take place.
After I came in for my consult and I spoke with her, she had told me that my case was bad, but she could still help me and see what can be done.
And once she did that, she came back with a plan and she goes, I have a plan of how we’re gonna do this.
And she gave me the details and I said, okay, I’m good with that.
And I felt comfortable with them and whatever journey it was I was gonna be on with them, that’s what I was gonna do that day.
I’d already made it my mind. The first thing that is most important is they’ve been doing it for 20 plus years plus that they are specialists in that. That’s all they do is breast. They don’t do anything else. So I’m very, very, very happy with it. Could couldn’t be happier. I like to go around and show people, but Dr. Wright says, please don’t do that.
Dr. Wright says, I’m the number two of the worst of the patients she’s seen. That’s not good for me just being that list. But it’s so much better to be fixed now that it’s not an issue anymore.
So you wanna show everybody what you, what someone has done for you and how you are different. Because usually before you get that, you are a whole different person. Your attitude, the way you look, the way you act is totally different until you come and you see Dr. Wright, Dr. Wise, any of the other doctors here and get done what needs to get done.
Mary Bell came to Dr. Wright with one of the worst cases of botched surgery following a breast cancer diagnosis that she had ever encountered. Dr. Wright developed a plan to repair the damage and help Mary feel whole again. Listen to why Mary believes it was a miracle to find Dr. Wright.
