Debra & Alyssia (00:00):
Hi, I am Debra McClary.

I am her mother. And I found out October the first, 2024 that I had breast cancer.

I had went for a checkup in June. They said they didn’t see anything, but I knew it was something there. So I kept going back until they did a biopsy and then they figure it out on October the first that it was cancer.

When she first told me, she said, mama, feel this. It feels like a little tiny bump on my breast. And I was like, ah, we need to go get it checked – ’cause my mother had breast cancer. My mother is 40 on ears in remission. She still takes chemo, and she’s 85 now. She’s a strong woman and she keeps her spirit up.

When I found out, I went home and I cried like a baby, but my inner spirit said, okay, pull yourself together.

It’s okay to cry now. You gotta be strong for her. You’re together.

I had just had my son. He was, uh, seven months and the thing that had like was a red flag for me, uh, when I was nursing, he wouldn’t nurse from the right boob, he would only nurse from the left. I always thought that that was just some type of like sixth sense or something. I’m like, why won’t he nurse from this one?

So I always had to pump the right breast, but sure enough, my baby, he just would not drink from it. And two months later we found out it was cancer. So I thought that was just like a sign. It was a sign.

I didn’t like that with the implants, which I had implants after I did radiation and so forth. And radiation did take a toll on my body, so I did not like it. I, I had experienced capsular contracture two times and after the second time I said, Hey, these implants have to come out. And at the age of 29 and 30, you know, I was feeling like I was mutilated at one point.

I mean, amazing, amazing results almost fell back to me again. You know, so honestly, like I just owe her so much. Put Humpty Dumpty back together again was the definition.

Like they were making these women great again.

I feel amazing. I feel like the best that I felt in the last four or five years. Sometime your spirit goes down and it’s only natural. You know, we have good days, we have bad days, but most of all, you gotta tell yourself, I’m still alive.

What that, I mean, she’s a great doctor. I mean, she cares so much and you could just feel it, you know, you could feel the care, you could feel the love. You could feel that she has pride in her work. What I would like to say in closing, Dr. Wright, you are amazing and I just wanna thank you for everything.

And we love you bunches.

Like our sister. Most definitely.

Debra and her daughter Alyssia were both diagnosed with breast cancer, which is prevalent in their family. They share their outstanding experiences receiving treatment from Dr. Wright, and how she has become like a sister to them.
