Renowned Physician Dr. Neil Baum on Choosing the Breast Center After Wife’s Diagnosis

READ TRANSCRIPT

Dr. Baum: My name is Dr. Neil Baum. I’m a physician, but more importantly, I’m the spouse of a wife who had breast cancer. We were devastated when we received the diagnosis after her biopsy and didn’t know what the options were or where to go for treatment, but I can tell you that when we were recommended the Breast Center and St. Charles Surgical Hospital, that was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

The doctors were phenomenal. They’re creative. They’re innovative. As a matter of fact, my wife had bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction in one procedure. The staff was just outstanding. They helped us before the surgery, during the surgery, and they helped us at the time of discharge, telling us how to care for her, including the drains, and even how to give her a shower after the procedure when we went home.

This is the very room where she recovered, and I can tell you I highly recommend the Breast Center and St. Charles Surgical Hospital, as this is truly a one-of-a-kind place. I’m not easily impressed because I’m a physician, but I was truly impressed with the Breast Center and St. Charles Surgical Hospital.

I highly recommend it, and by the way, the food is pretty good. It’s five stars, and I gained one pound for each star.

Dr. Neil Baum, a physician and husband of a breast cancer survivor, talks about how choosing the Breast Center was “one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.” As a physician and expert in his own field, Dr. Baum was especially critical of the care his wife received and was impressed with the surgeon’s innovation and the care given by the entire staff. Sitting in his wife’s recovery room, Dr. Baum tells their story from diagnosis to recovery.
