“I continue to be humbled by the impact this work has, both on the women we take care of and those that are near and dear to them. The effects of breast reconstruction have the capacity to transcend the surgical techniques, providing the final link in the circle of treatment, a return to wholeness, and an overall sense of recovery.”
- Frank J. DellaCroce, MD, FACS
Frank J. DellaCroce, MD, FACS, is co-Founder of the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery (CRBS) and the St. Charles Surgical Hospital– the only hospital in the world built from the ground up to serve the reconstructive needs of women affected by breast cancer. Board certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, his pioneering work in the field of microsurgery has made his center a world leader in the art and science of breast reconstruction. The revolutionary approaches developed at the Center, allow for recreation of a breast lost to cancer with transplanted, living fat, while simultaneously preserving core musculature and associated strength. The recreated breast is natural in appearance with softness and shape that very nearly duplicate the original. As a result, his Center draws patients to New Orleans from all over the world for treatment.
Over the last decade, Dr. DellaCroce has performed thousands of breast reconstructions on women from all over the world who seek out his expertise. His work has been progressively more sought out by referral for correction of failed procedures or residual deformities that remain after previous reconstructive efforts.
Dr. DellaCroce received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Science Center. He completed both his General Surgery internship and Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas before returning to LSU for a fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of numerous societies including the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. Dr. DellaCroce is an honorary board member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure and serves on the advisory board for FORCE. The American Cancer Society has named Dr. DellaCroce a Spirit Award Honoree for going above and beyond in the fight against cancer. He has been named one of the “Best Doctors in America” for the last 5 consecutive years. He is a widely published author in peer reviewed medical journals and textbooks including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Clinics in Plastic Surgery, and the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States on the various techniques developed at his center and he enjoys golfing, traveling with his family, and deep-sea fishing in his off hours.
