The Center for Restorative Breast Surgery is proud to have hosted the first annual National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day right here in New Orleans. As a national sponsor we endeavor to promote the importance of this issue and ensure that all breast cancer patients are fully informed of their options and supported by a team of medical professionals working together before they begin treatment. Not only are some women never shown breast reconstruction surgery results, but previous research shows 7 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer are never even told about their breast reconstruction options. We have found the continual lack of awareness patients have regarding their rights and options for breast reconstruction can have devastating results. National Breast Reconstruction Day was a momentous opportunity for us to educate and empower these women. The effects of breast reconstruction have the capacity to transcend the surgical techniques, providing women the final link in the circle of treatment, a return to wholeness, and an overall sense of recovery. We were extremely proud to have been a part of this historic day.
